The investiture of Sree Mahavishnu God was done by Brahmasree Thekineyeduthu Tharananelloor Padhmanabhanunni Namboothiripadu on 24 may 2001. By this, the spiritual presences of Lord Shiva & Lord Vishnu were united in this temple and so the spiritual presence of Lord and Lordess were completed as seen in “swarnaprasnam”. This land is very much blessed to witness such exceptional phenomenon which is rarely seen in Kerala and so Chovva became a major pilgrimage land in Kerala.

It was built in the premises of temple and was inaugurated on 29 August 2000 by Sree Dakshinamoorthy, a music legend. Devaswam secretary Miss Lalithambika chaired the occasion. This mandapam was built to make this temple a center for cultural innovation. For the past 9 years classes were conducted for more than 500 children on drawing, classical music, musical instruments like Tabal, Mridhangam, Harmonium etc. every Saturday and Sunday classes are being held by service minded teachers.
“Dwijaprathishta”
The mast (Kodimaram) is considered to be the backbone of a temple. A suitable tree is selected for the purpose and felled down considering certain ‘signs’ of the tree. It is called “dwijaprathishta” since the tree is reinvested in front of the temple. The tree had a first life and then it is fell down and replaced in front of the temple to have its second life for centuries. It is believed that such trees are very much blessed by the almighty and its because of that blessing it got a chance to live its second life in front of the temple.
This investiture (prathishta) was done by Vazhaparambil shishyan kanjanniyil pazhangamparamb Illathu Sree Unnikrishnan Namboothiripad of Thrissur
Chuttambalam and Vathilmadam
Sreekovil is the spiritual center of temple. Chuttambalam (fence surrounding sreekovil) and Vathilmadam (main door or entrance to sreekovil) was built which suited the temple.
